Being Able to Employ People is a Great Privilege
Next to helping people out of inappropriate accommodation and into places people are happy to call home, being able to employ people is a great privilege
A lot of businesses start as a dream, someone identifies a problem and then comes up with a solution. As you turn that business into a reality, then you get to bring people along to share your dream. Being able to develop a business that provides sufficient revenue to give someone not only their financial livelihood but to give them something meaningful work wise is a great privilege. No matter what the role or the aspirations, with the right team it is a wonderful thing.
NDISP Hasn’t Had To Let Anyone Go, Plenty Close to Us Have
We are really luck in that NDISP has not had to let anyone go, nor have the Yellow Card Companies that we work with. Actually, they have all grown and employed more people. But, many of the other businesses that we work with, are friends with or have some involvement with have had to let people go. It’s very hard to have to let some go to save the rest. Building a great team and culture takes time and you work so hard together and share that dream, and then something like Covid comes along and it changes everything.
To Those Who Jobkeeper Ending Means the End of Your Job
We are sorry for your job losses, we are sorry for the business owners that have had to let you go for the sake of others, or the businesses themselves.
It remains to be seen as to whether the entire economy is going to crash with the withdrawal of government support, or if we are going to be able to trade our way through the massive loss of productivity and the massive debt. We hope that this is the worst and you go on to bigger and better things.
Disability Services is a Great Career
If you are out of work today have you considered disability services. It is by far the most rewarding work we have ever done. And the roll out of the NDIS has meant this is booming.
Hospitality Staff Make Great Disability Staff
I know that Yellow Card Helpers actively look for hospitality staff to work as cleaners, gardeners and handymen. The great people skills you acquired in your hospitality career will place you well in disability services.
